For nearly 50 years, Abercrombie & Kent has been internationally recognized as the first name in deluxe travel. Abercrombie & Kent was founded in 1962 as a safari company in Nairobi, Kenya, and now offers trips on all seven continents. Canal and river cruising has become a significant part of the company's business.
Expert tour directors, well-appointed accommodations and a multitude of included activities and amenities are standard on Abercrombie & Kent river cruises. While A&K offers some deluxe river cruises aboard standard-sized vessels, the company is also known for its selection of barge cruises. Barges are smaller and move more slowly than their larger counterparts. Carrying as few as four and up to 22 passengers, A&K's barge cruises allow for an intimate and relaxing experience.
- Abercrombie & Kent offers river cruises aboard standard-sized vessels in Europe, Egypt and China, as well as barge cruises in Europe.
- River cruises are rated according to the quality of the vessel and its accommodations, the number of included amenities and activities both on and off the ship, the class of hotels used for land portions of itineraries, and the level of service delivered. A&K river cruises are categorized as deluxe on the industry rating scale (budget, first class and deluxe).
