Welcome to the wondrous city of Budapest, one of Europe’s oldest and most beautiful cities. Upon arrival transfer to your luxurious hotel for a two night stay. (Dinner)
Day 2 Budapest
Wander the cobblestone streets with your expert local guide and explore both towns of Buda and Pest, linked by the famous Chain Bridge. This evening you’ll get to experience a delicious dinner in a local restaurant. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 3 Budapest > Embarkation
Cruise along the Lower Danube from Budapest towards the Black Sea, through the fabled Iron Gates. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 4 Kalocsa
Today you’ll get to witness a traditional Hungarian horse show. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 5 Osijek
Explore Osijek on a guided city tour, or if you’re the more active type, you could opt to take a blissful guided bike ride through Osijek’s countryside.
As a special Scenic guest, you’ll be invited into the home of a local family for a traditional home-cooked meal and the chance to discover what everyday life is really like in Croatia. With great food and wonderful company, this will be both a magnificent meal and a rare opportunity to meet with people who understand the local way of life intimately. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 6 Belgrade
Join your local guide and discover one of the oldest capital cities in Europe – Belgrade. Alternatively, choose a guided bicycle ride along the Danube, or taste your way around the local market through our Shop with a Chef offering. Or for some true insight into local life join a walking tour with a local.
Raise a toast to the end of a wonderful day, it’s a moment to savour and a chance to reflect on all you’ve seen and experienced. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 7 Iron Gates
Relax on board and admire the scenery as you cruise the spectacular Iron Gates – a narrow gorge that the Danube has carved out between the Carpathian and Balkan Mountains. Not only is it a spectacular setting for a cruise, it’s also the natural border between Serbia and Romania. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 8 Svishtov > Rousse
Discover the Byzantine gem of Veliko Tarnovo and the World Heritage-listed village of Arbanassi. Alternatively stay on board and enjoy the trip towards the Bulgarian town of Rousse, where you’ll be treated to a guided sightseeing tour. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 9 Silistra
Discover the Silistra Fort during an active walking tour, or take an excursion to Varna on the Black Sea coast. Or, tour a local village, including a visit to the primary school, and learn about life in Bulgaria. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 10 Giurgiu > Bucharest
Disembark your ship and travel to Bucharest.
Enjoy a guided visit to the impressive Palace of the Parliament, the second largest administrative building in the world. Or tour the Village Open Air Museum and discover ethnography exhibits depicting Romanian heritage and culture.
Afterwards, check-in for your overnight stay in Bucharest. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 11 Bucharest > Sofia
Journey to the historic Bulgarian capital of Sofia, your base for the next two nights. (Breakfast, Lunch)
Day 12 Sofia
With your local guide, you’ll get to discover neo-classical Stalinist architecture, tree-lined boulevards and balconied buildings by 19th century Russian and Viennese architects. This evening you’ll be treated to a delicious dinner and folk show at a local restaurant. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 13 Sofia > Ohrid Lake
Your first stop today is Skopje which has been inhabited since 4000 BC. Continue through the Macedonian countryside before arriving at picturesque Ohrid Lake, where you’ll stay for two nights.
Enjoy a traditional Macedonian dinner and folklore show. It’s a wonderful opportunity to absorb some of the region’s unique culture. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 14 Ohrid Lake
Tour the town with your knowledgeable guide this morning. With its temples, ruins and Byzantine basilicas, Ohrid is one of the most ancient towns in the Balkans.
Visit the Monastery of St Naum or enjoy a cooking class in a local village. Alternatively take a guided hike through the Galicica National Park. (Breakfast)
Day 15 Ohrid Lake > Tirana
Arrive in the Byzantine city of Tirana, then check into your hotel for an overnight stay, before embarking on an informative city tour. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 16 Tirana > Budva
Continuing your journey to Montenegro, you’ll arrive in Budva, for your overnight stay. (Breakfast, Lunch)
Day 17 Budva > Dubrovnik
Let a knowledgeable local guide show you around the Bay of Kotor. Take in amazing vistas as you journey along the Adriatic coast to Dubrovnik where you’ll enjoy two nights. (Breakfast)
Day 18 Dubrovnik
Today see Onofrio’s Fountain, the Rector’s Palace and visit the Old Pharmacy in the Franciscan Monastery.
Take a scenic journey through the picturesque countryside, and visit the Konavle villages and the town of Cavtat. Alternatively, if you’re feeling more energetic, walk Dubrovnik’s medieval ramparts.

Day 19 Dubrovnik > Sarajevo
En route to Sarajevo, stop in the beautiful city of Mostar. Visit the Turkish House and the Old Bridge. Later, check in to your hotel in Sarajevo for two nights. (Breakfast, Lunch)
Day 20 Sarajevo
Explore the treasures of Sarajevo on a guided tour that includes Bascarsija in the heart of old Sarajevo, Gazi Husrev Beg’s Mosque and the Sarajevo Tunnel Museum.
Tonight you’ll be treated to a home-hosted dinner of traditional Bosnian cuisine in a private family home, where you’ll have the opportunity to learn about everyday life in Sarajevo. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 21 Sarajevo > Zagreb
Continue to Zagreb, and arrive at your Special Stay hotel. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 22 Zagreb > Plitvice National Park > Zagreb
Discover Zagreb on a guided tour, before travelling to Plitvice National Park. Wander meandering pathways that pass emerald green lakes, stepped and linked by magnificent waterfalls. (Breakfast)
Day 23 Zagreb > Budapest
Journey to your final destination, Budapest and arrive at your hotel for an overnight stay. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 24 Budapest
