River Cruise Itinerary
Day 1 Regensburg
Regensburg’s Old Town really comes to life after dark, as it no doubt has for centuries, and you’ll navigate the nightlife scene like a native with your savvy U Host.

Day 2 Straubing & Passau
Enjoy some time on your own this morning to look around Straubing or relax before this afternoon’s active adventure, a ride along the Danube bike path from Straubing to Vilshofen. Don’t worry—that includes stops at pilgrimage sites, ancient monasteries, scenic vistas and (no surprise here) a Bavarian beer garden.

Night Out
Passau has a wonderful pedestrian-only Old Town just a short walk from the ship, an ideal place to chat, eat and drink, kick around soccer balls and listen to music. Beer garden culture at its best.

U Time - Beer and Meat (Optional)
Treat yourself to a Bavarian cuisine and culture walk, visiting a craft beer brewery and a shop specializing in Bavarian meats. Meet a master brewer and a Bavarian butcher, sample beer served in champagne-style bottles and learn how to pair charcuterie with craft beers.

U Time - Into The Woods (Optional)
Kick back on a scenic drive deep into the heart of the Bavarian Forest, where you can opt for a Ranger-led hike or a mountain bike tour.

Day 3 Passau & Linz
Start the day off with a hike up to two scenic viewpoints overlooking the confluence of two waterways—the green Inn River and the blue Danube. Head back down to explore Passau, taking in its baroque cathedral and labyrinth of narrow, crooked lanes.

U Time - Bike The Danube (Optional)
Feeling energized after your morning hike? Grab a bike and cruise down the famous Danube bike path, which is particularly scenic from Passau to Vienna. Your expert guides will lead you on a flat 20-mile route. Reunite with the ship in Engelhartszell, where you can quench your thirst with beer made by Trappist monks.

U Time - Deep Space (Optional)
Venture into Deep Space 8K at the Ars Electronica Museum, a unique and colorful visual journey through the universe that incorporates floor projection, laser tracking, 3-D animations and projections at 8K resolution. Yowza.

Night Out
Austria’s second-largest city was bombed during WWII, so modern day Linz looks unexpectedly new and futuristic. On your guided evening walk, you’ll learn how the city has transformed itself into a thriving center for media arts, technology and research.

Day 4 Melk, Wachau Valley & Durnstein
Chill out onboard during a scenic morning cruise, followed by free time in Melk. Then it’s onward to the beautiful Wachau Valley and the tiny village of Dürnstein. Hike up to the castle ruins where Richard the Lionhearted was once held for ransom—the views are amazing.

U Time - Tragic Austria (Optional)
Austria is so lovely that it’s easy to forget its tragic history. You can learn more about that today with a guided tour of the Mauthausen Concentration Camp, which operated from 1938 to 1945.

U Time - Secrets Of The Abbey (Optional)
The baroque-style Melk Abbey has a fascinating 900-year history and an extraordinarily beautiful library filled with priceless medieval manuscripts, optional illusions, cleverly concealed doors and other intriguing secrets.

U Time - A Vinters Dinner (Optional)
The Nikolaihof wine estate is said to be the oldest in Austria, dating back some 2,000 years. The friendly owners are pioneers of organic winemaking, and they’ll be on hand to greet you and prepare a wonderful garden-to-table dinner for you this evening.

Day 5 Vienna
Your first guided walk in Vienna provides an excellent overview of Austria’s elegant and artistic capital, and also includes a tram ride about the city’s famous Ringstrasse (Ring Road).

U Time - Operatic Cooking (Optional)
Enjoy a taste of two classics—an intro to opera music and a Viennese cooking class. A fun opportunity to learn about arias and Apfelstrudel at the same time.

U Time - Above Vienna (Optional)
Vienna’s giant Ferris wheel is the perfect place for a party in the sky—plush and roomy cabins where you can dine on street food and sparkling wine while enjoying incredible views over the city.

U Time - After Hours (Optional)
What’s better than poking around a baroque palace? Poking around after hours, when the crowds of tourists have all gone back home. Your guided tour of Schönbrunn Palace—the former summer residence of the imperial family—includes the state rooms and private apartments of Empress Maria Theresa.

U Time - A Classical Evening (Optional)
If there’s one “must-do” in Vienna, the mecca of classical music, it’s attending a Mozart and Strauss concert. After tonight’s performance at Klosterneuburg Abbey, you can join the musicians and singers in the courtyard for a drink under the stars.

Day 6 Bratislava & Budapest
With its small town charm, Czech beer, Bohemian cuisine and art deco cafes, the capital of Slovakia is well worth a visit—and you can cover just about everything on an insightful walk with your U Host.

U Time - River Wild (Optional)
Just a short way from the city center, you can do something completely different—wild white water rafting on the Cunovo River with an expert guide.

U Time - Take A Bath (Optional)
The largest medicinal baths in Europe, Budapest’s famous Szechenyi Baths, host epic bath parties at night that you’ll be talking about for years to come.

Night Out - Bars Of Budapest (Optional)
Your U Host knows all the best places in Budapest, a city with a reputation for epic partying. Check out the romkocsma-massive abandoned buildings that have been converted into trendy bars and clubs-and visit the "ruin pub" that started it all, Szimpla. Cheap drinks, mazes of rooms, street art and Communistic relics? Count us in.

Day 7 Budapest
Visit the covered market with the ship’s chef, who will introduce you to local flavors and ingredients—like Hungary’s most beloved spice, paprika. Later, take your pick of how to see the top sights in both Buda and Pest, either by motorcoach or on a guided bike ride.

U Time - Country Sparkle (Optional)
Head out to the Hungarian countryside to meet an aficionado of sparkling wines and enjoy a refreshing glass (or three) as he shares the secrets of making great bubbly.

U Time - House Of Terror (Optional)
This fascinating museum commemorates two bloody periods of Hungarian history and honors those held captive, tortured and killed. An unforgettable look at fascism and communism in the 20th century.

Day 8 Budapest
Disembark and head off to your next adventure.
