Day 1 Welcome to Istanbul
Your journey into wonder begins here, with a three night stay in Istanbul.
Day 2 Istanbul
Take a cruise on the Bosphorus strait this morning, the Blue Mosque, Hippodrome square and the spectacular Hagia Sophia.
Freechoice: Join a cooking class or try your hand at the ancient art of writing during a calligraphy course. Alternatively, relax and rejuvenate during your visit to the Ayasofya Hurrem Sultan Hamami Turkish Baths. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 3 Istanbul
This morning visit Dolmabahce Palace as well as the Topkapi Palace before time to wander the evocative Grand Bazaar and an afternoon at leisure.
Tonight, a special treat awaits you as you attend a dinner at the stunning Hamdi Restaurant, where you’ll be treated to outstanding views over the Golden Horn, accompanied by the call to prayer that echoes from the numerous surrounding mosques. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 4 Istanbul > Canakkale
Enjoy a fascinating tour of Homer’s Troy – the legendary site of the Trojan Wars. Afterwards, travel to Canakkale for a two night stay. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 5 Canakkale > Gallipoli
Travel to the Gallipoli Peninsula, the site of WWI landings by the Allied Forces, including ANZAC troops. There are over 31 cemeteries on the peninsula, now a national park, and you’ll have the chance to explore and gain a unique perspective on this moving and historically poignant location. You also have the opportunity to visit the Kabatepe Museum where you will see a range of historically significant items from the Gallipoli campaign. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 6 Canakkale > Nessebar
Journey from Canakkale to Bulgaria and stay two nights in Nessebar. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 7 Nessebar
Enjoy a tour of Nessebar. Tonight, delight in delicious local cuisine and take in a folklore show. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 8 Nessebar > Bucharest
See a diverse range of scenery as you pass through Bulgaria to Romania’s capital, Bucharest, where you will check into a centrally located hotel. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 9 Bucharest > Giurgiu
Freechoice: Explore Bucharest and learn about its communist past, including a visit to Ceausescu’s Spring Palace. Or tour the Village Open Air Museum and discover ethnography exhibits depicting Romanian heritage and culture.
Later, travel to Giurgiu where you will be personally welcomed by your friendly dedicated staff on board your luxury Scenic Space-Ship. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 10 Silistra
Freechoice: Discover Silistra Fort during an active walking tour, or take an excursion to Varna on the Black Sea coast. Alternatively, visit a local village and primary school to learn about life in Bulgaria. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 11 Rousse
Freechoice: Visit Rousse, where you’ll be treated to a guided sightseeing tour. Alternatively, discover the Byzantine gem of Veliko Tarnovo and the World Heritage-listed village of Arbanassi. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 12 Iron Gates
Relax and admire the scenery as you cruise the spectacular Iron Gates, a narrow gorge that the Danube has carved out between the Carpathian and Balkan Mountains. It’s a spectacular setting for a cruise and also the natural border between Serbia and Romania. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 13 Belgrade
Freechoice: Enjoy an in-depth tour of one of Europe’s oldest capitals, Belgrade, including a visit to Tito’s Memorial, or take an orientation tour of Belgrade and see the highlights before time at leisure to wander this fascinating city. Alternatively, choose a guided bicycle ride along the Danube, or for some true insight into everyday life, take a walk through the city with a student. Or, journey to Sremski Karlovci, where you can wander the town with our experts and marvel at the beautiful Baroque elements.
Visit the largest orthodox temple in the Balkans, St. Sava and enjoy a choir performance in the Temple Crypt. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 14 Osijek
Freechoice: Explore Osijek on a guided city tour, or if you’re the more active type, you can opt to take a blissful guided bike ride through Osijek’s countryside.
As a special Scenic guest, you’ll be invited into the home of a local family for a traditional home-cooked meal and the chance to discover what everyday life is really like in Croatia. With great food and wonderful company, this will be a magnificent meal and a rare opportunity to meet people who understand the local way of life intimately. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 15 Kalocsa
Located on the Great Hungarian Plain, Kalocsa is one of the oldest towns in Hungary. Today you will have the opportunity to witness a traditional Puszta horse show. Be greeted by the horsemen of the Puszta region where this type of activity has been practised for centuries. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 16 Budapest
After breakfast, prepare to head home. It may be the end of your journey, but it’s the beginning of a lifetime of fond memories. (Breakfast)

Begin your cruise in Giurgiu, and journey back in time through a handful of unspoilt lands. Cruise along the Lower Danube and from there you can explore all the way to beautiful Budapest.
