Feeling energized after your morning hike? Grab a bike and cruise down the famous Danube bike path, which is particularly scenic from Passau to Vienna. Your expert guides will lead you on a flat 20-mile route. Reunite with the ship in Engelhartszell, where you can quench your thirst with beer made by Trappist monks.
Venture into Deep Space 8K at the Ars Electronica Museum, a unique and colorful visual journey through the universe that incorporates floor projection, laser tracking, 3-D animations and projections at 8K resolution. Yowza.
Austria’s second-largest city was bombed during WWII, so modern day Linz looks unexpectedly new and futuristic. On your guided evening walk, you’ll learn how the city has transformed itself into a thriving center for media arts, technology and research.
Day 4 Melk, Wachau Valley & Durnstein
Chill out onboard during a scenic morning cruise, followed by free time in Melk. Then it’s onward to the beautiful Wachau Valley and the tiny village of Dürnstein. Hike up to the castle ruins where Richard the Lionhearted was once held for ransom—the views are amazing.

Austria is so lovely that it’s easy to forget its tragic history. You can learn more about that today with a guided tour of the Mauthausen Concentration Camp, which operated from 1938 to 1945.

Day 5 Vienna
Your first guided walk in Vienna provides an excellent overview of Austria’s elegant and artistic capital, and also includes a tram ride about the city’s famous Ringstrasse (Ring Road).

What’s better than poking around a baroque palace? Poking around after hours, when the crowds of tourists have all gone back home. Your guided tour of Schönbrunn Palace—the former summer residence of the imperial family—includes the state rooms and private apartments of Empress Maria Theresa.

If there’s one “must-do” in Vienna, the mecca of classical music, it’s attending a Mozart and Strauss concert. After tonight’s performance at Klosterneuburg Abbey, you can join the musicians and singers in the courtyard for a drink under the stars.
Day 6 Bratislava & Budapest
With its small town charm, Czech beer, Bohemian cuisine and art deco cafes, the capital of Slovakia is well worth a visit—and you can cover just about everything on an insightful walk with your U Host.

Just a short way from the city center, you can do something completely different—wild white water rafting on the Cunovo River with an expert guide.

Day 7 Budapest
Visit the covered market with the ship’s chef, who will introduce you to local flavors and ingredients—like Hungary’s most beloved spice, paprika. Later, take your pick of how to see the top sights in both Buda and Pest, either by motorcoach or on a guided bike ride.
