After, enjoy a panoramic drive around London’s key sights before heading to the West End. Spend free time exploring Covent Garden and its historic covered market. If you wish, you may also visit the Imperial War Museum to learn more about the undercover work of Britain’s Special Forces and its allies. Return to your hotel for dinner at your leisure. (B)

Day 4 Portsmouth, England
Journey to the south coast today. En route, stop at the village of Southwick and immerse yourself in the bygone era of the 1940s. Discover the crucial role that the village played in the planning of the D-Day invasion, then continue to Portsmouth and and Gunwharf Quays. Explore this wonderfully renovated former military site, now home to an array of retail outlets and eateries. After, visit the D-Day Museum then return to your London hotel and enjoy dinner at your leisure. (B)

Day 5 Paris (La Pecq), France
Check out of your London hotel and set sail across the English Channel. Depart from the port of Dover, famed for its white cliffs and World War II anthem of the same name by the “forces sweetheart,” Dame Vera Lynn. Arrive at the strategic port of Calais and travel to Paris to join your ship. This evening, enjoy dinner on board. (B, D)

Day 6 Paris, France
After breakfast, embark on a tour of the “City of Light” and marvel at its most remarkable sights, including the iconic Eiffel Tower. Take in the École Militaire, Orsay Museum and Latin Quarter, and magnificent Notre Dame Cathedral. Then drive past the Louvre and Opera House and along the famed Champs-Élysées. Or, spend your afternoon strolling the Louvre, home to one of the world’s greatest art collections, with a private guide. Return on board for dinner and start your cruise on the Seine this evening. (B, D)

After breakfast, you may choose to join a full-day tour to historic Utah Beach and Pointe du Hoc along the shores of Normandy. Visit the Utah Beach Landing Museum for a comprehensive overview of D-Day, then travel to Sainte-Mère-Église to learn about the efforts of US paratroopers air-dropped behind enemy lines. Visit the Arromanches Debarkment D-Day Museum to learn about the portable Mulberry Harbors that were instrumental in providing continued supplies for troops after the invasion of Normandy’s beaches and the Overlord Museum, which details events from the D-Day invasion through the liberation of Paris.
