DAY 2, Friday - Arrive in Amsterdam Welcome to Amsterdam, Holland's sophisticated and modern capital. The remainder of the day is free to discover the many cultural sites this delightful city has to offer. Tonight, attend an orientation meeting at approximately 6pm, at the hotel with your local host about your journey, followed by a Welcome Drink. We recommend that you select flights which arrive in your destination no later than 4pm on Day 2 or earlier, if possible.
DAY 3, Saturday - Amsterdam City Tour Today's panoramic tour of 700-year-old Amsterdam introduces you to both the old and the new sections of this city. View the Royal Palace on Amsterdam's Dam Square, the Queen's official home-away-from-home. On to the Dutch National Monument dedicated by Queen Juliana as a memorial to the victims of WWII and to the unusual Skinny Bridge, once so narrow that pedestrians could not pass each other. Then, board a glass-top boat and cruise the winding canals for an up-close view of the stately historic homes, 16th-century warehouses and charming churches with striking bell towers. The rest of the day is on your own. Perhaps, visit the world-renowned Van Gogh Museum and explore the largest collection of van Gogh works in the world. (Breakfast)
DAY 4, Sunday - Cruise Embarkation in Bonn Transfer from Amsterdam to Bonn, Germany. Embarkation will begin at 2:00 pm. After arrival formalities, rest and relax on board. This evening, meet your cruise director and enjoy a gala welcome dinner as it sets the mood for your delightful river cruise. (Breakfast, Dinner)
DAY 5, Monday - Bonn City Tour Wake up this morning in Bonn, West Germany's former capital. Embark on a walking tour of Bonn to discover the city's highlights and hear about its history from your knowledgeable guide. Stroll through the charming Old Town and view the House of Ludwig van Beethoven (the city’s claim to fame). Continue to Munsterplatz to view the Beethoven Monument and the 11th century Bonn Minster, a spectacular five-spired basilica with an elaborate facade. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
DAY 6, Tuesday - Morning Cruising & Afternoon in Koblenz Spend the morning in Koblenz, located at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle Rivers. Join an orientation walk and enjoy free time to explore the Romanesque architecture and imposing defensive towers of this 2000-year old city. After lunch on board, set sail for Frankfurt and take in the spectacular vistas as the ship sails past castles perched on lofty cliffs, terraced vineyards and tiny villages. Pass the mighty Lorelei Rock on the eastern bank of the Rhine rising vertically from the waters, named for the siren "Lorelei" who bewitched sailors passing by. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
DAY 7, Wednesday - Frankfurt City Tour Frankfurt is home of the European Central Bank and financial heart of Germany. Situated on the banks of the River Main, Frankfurt is a city of contrasts. Its famous modern skyline is a striking backdrop of the historical town center, or Römerberg. Begin the day with a walking tour of the city with your local guide, or alternatively, join the optional tour to Heidelberg, home to the oldest university in Germany and inspiration for some of the world's greatest writers and artists. The tour includes lunch, as well as a panoramic view of Frankfurt as you drive away from the city. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 8, Thursday - Explore Worms Today, take a morning city tour of Worms: A city of churches. Visit the Jewish cemetery, considered to be the oldest surviving Jewish cemetery in Europe with graves dating back to the late 11th century. Continue to majestic Worms Cathedral, one of the imperial Cathedrals and among the finest examples of Romanesque architecture in Germany. Proceed to the Martin Luther Monument and learn about the Protestant reformer and his visit in Worms in 1521. Afterward, free time to further exolore the city on your own. All passengers will rejoin the ship in mid afternoon and set sail for Strasbourg. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
DAY 9, Friday - Strasbourg City Tour A lovely day awaits you in Strasbourg, the capital of Alsace, situated on the border of France and Germany, blending the cultures of both countries. Discover Strasbourg on the tour highlighting the city's center, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Of special note is the stunning Gothic Cathedral, an exquisite example of late Gothic architecture that houses one of the finest astronomical clocks in existence. See the magical La Petite France district, home to quaint shops and charming bistros, Place Kleber, a large historic square in the center of the city and Place Gutenberg, dedicated to the inventor of the printing press. This afternoon, the ship sets sail toward Basel. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
DAY 10, Saturday - Basel City Tour Begin the day with a tram ride to Basel's city center. Here, explore the historic Old Town with your guide and gain insight into its 15th century history. View the city's top attractions including Basel Minster, the Barfusserkirche, City Hall, the Museum of Cultures and Tinguely Fountain. Along the way, marvel at the city’s bold and modern architecture. Conclude the tour at Marktplatz, a medieval historic center dating back to the 1500s, where a market takes place every day except Sundays. On the market stalls, you can find delectable local produce, as well as many local and international specialties. After lunch on board, spend time at leisure. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

European river cruising has gained in popularity for very good reason. It's a relaxing and convenient way to experience Europe while enjoying the comfort of a deluxe ship. However, before making the decision to reserve your vacation, please be aware of potential conditions which may impact your cruise. While most of the time river cruises operate exactly as planned, weather conditions may result in high or low water levels which impact a ship's itinerary and, on occasion, render a ship unable to sail at all. On very rare occasions, other events such as heavy fog, a damaged lock, or an incapacitated vessel blocking the river, may impact a sailing. These events typically occur with little or no notice. In the event that a cruise is partially or completely impacted, the itinerary will be operated by deluxe motor coach, accompanied by a Tour Manager, with overnights in hotels. The itinerary will include as many of the originally scheduled sightseeing features as possible, considering the travel time and distances required, as well as meals. While it is not possible to recreate the more leisurely comforts of sailings, we will endeavor to provide a comparable itinerary. These alternative services will be provided at no additional charge.
This moderately active trip covers a fair amount of ground each day. Expect from three to four hours walking every touring day. The pace is moderate, however you will encounter some uneven surfaces, stairs, steps and significant slopes. There is a potential for a small number of sailings to be impacted by river water levels, or other factors which may impact safe navigation. This may cause part or all of the cruise itinerary to be operated by motor coach and may also involve hotel accommodations.
