Day 1 Vienna
Arrive in Vienna and transfer to your centrally located hotel, for an overnight stay. This evening, meet your fellow travellers and Tour Director over a welcome drink to celebrate the start of a wonderful journey.
Day 2 Vienna > Salzburg
Freechoice: This morning you have the opportunity to visit the Imperial Palace and its fabulous Imperial Silver Collection, housing over 7000 items from the Habsburg monarchy. Alternatively visit the Natural History Museum, with a collection of dinosaur skeletons and the world’s oldest and largest collection of meteorites.
This afternoon we continue to Salzburg where you’ll enjoy a two night stay. (Breakfast)
Day 3 Salzburg
Today spend the morning visiting one of the city’s famed salt mine where the ‘White gold’ has been mined since the Neolithic age. Learn of the importance this natural mineral has on the economy and float across the magnificent salt lake by boat. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 4 Oberammergau
Today we journey to the town of Oberammergau. In 1633 the residents of the town vowed that if they were spared from the bubonic plague sweeping the region, they would produce a play for all time depicting the life and death of Jesus. Today you will have the privilege of attending a performance of this epic play. (Breakfast)
Day 5 Munich
This morning, visit the majestic spires of Neuschwanstein Castle and discover some of its fascinating back-story before continuing to Munich for a two night stay at one of the cities luxurious hotels. (Breakfast)
Day 6 Munich
Explore the Bavarian city of Munich with your expert local guide who’ll help you discover the wonder of this fine city, including the Marienplatz, Glockenspiel and Viktualienmarkt.
Tonight enjoy a sumptuous dinner of traditional German cuisine. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 7 Munich > Zurich
After breakfast, travel to Switzerland and its largest city, Zurich. Upon arrival take a guided city tour where you will see the Bahnhofstrasse and the Romanesque Cathedral, among other fascinating highlights. (Breakfast)
Day 8 Zurich > Basel
Raise your glass to the marvellous cruise ahead of you at this evening’s welcome reception. Your journey into wonder is about to begin. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 9 Kehl > Strasbourg
Freechoice: Visit Strasbourg, discover La Petite France and stroll through the Old Town with its half-timbered houses and distinctive Alsatian winstubs. Alternatively, journey to Mittelbergheim in the Alsace and sample some of the best wines the region has to offer. Or explore the Black Forest region during a visit to the Vogtsbauernhof Open Air Museum. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 10 Rastatt > Baden Baden
Arrive in charming Baden Baden, a spa town famous for its Roman baths.
Freechoice: Join your local guide on a tour of this picturesque town and tour the ruins of the Roman baths that have made this city famous or take an active hike to Hohenbaden Castle. Alternatively, visit the Mercedes-Benz factory.
Enjoy a private evening concert at a fine Baroque palace. It’ll be an evening of grandeur unlike any other and a chance to create memories you’ll cherish for a lifetime. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 11 Mannheim
Freechoice: Join a local guide on a historic tour of Heidelberg, where you’ll visit Heidelberg’s Renaissance castle. The castle ruins are among the most important Renaissance structures north of the Alps. Or join a guide for an orientation tour of Heidelberg, followed by leisure time. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 12 Koblenz
Freechoice: Take a guided tour of Koblenz, straddling two of Europe’s most beautiful rivers. Alternatively, discover Cochem – a true medieval gem resting on the banks of the Moselle River. Cochem will make you feel as if you’re stepping straight into a fairytale and you’ll be able to explore this charming city on a guided tour including a visit to Reichsburg Castle. Alternatively, visit a local winery and sample some of the fine wines of this region or take a guided cycling tour. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Raise a toast to the end of a wonderful day in a scenic location.
Day 13 Cologne
Freechoice: Enjoy a scenic ride on the oldest cog railway in Germany and discover splendid Drachenburg Castle, or stroll through Cologne and get up close to the filigree twin towers of the famous cathedral. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 14 Amsterdam
Freechoice: Explore Amsterdam on a guided walking tour pausing along the way to sample the Dutch delicacy, herring. Or cruise the iconic canals that have made Amsterdam world famous. Alternatively, discover charming Volendam, with its unusual raised homes and quaint wooden church, before heading to the equally charming village of Edam. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 15 Amsterdam
After a hearty breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Amsterdam airport for your onward or homebound flight. (Breakfast)
