Day 1 Munich
Arrive in Munich and transfer to a centrally located hotel, where you’ll enjoy a two night stay. This evening, meet your fellow travellers and Tour Director over a welcome drink to celebrate the start of a wonderful journey.
Day 2 Munich
Explore the Bavarian city of Munich with your expert local guide who’ll help you discover the wonder of this fine city, including the Marienplatz, Glockenspiel and Viktualienmarkt.
Tonight enjoy a sumptuous dinner of traditional German cuisine. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 3 Oberammergau
Today we journey to the town of Oberammergau. In 1633 the residents of the town vowed that if they were spared from the bubonic plague sweeping the region, they would produce a play for all time depicting the life and death of Jesus. Today you will have the privilege of attending a performance of this epic play. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 4 Salzburg
This morning, visit the majestic spires of Neuschwanstein Castle and discover some of its fascinating back-story before continuing to Salzburg for a stay at your luxurious hotel. (Breakfast)
Day 5 Salzburg > Vienna
Today, enjoy a walking tour that includes locations used during the filming of ‘The Sound of Music’, as well as Mozart’s birthplace and residence. Then, continue to Vienna where you will enjoy an overnight stay at your centrally located hotel. (Breakfast)
Day 6 Vienna > Budapest
Transfer to Budapest & board your Scenic Space-Ship. Relax and raise your glass to the days ahead at this evening’s welcome reception. (Breakfast, Dinner)
Day 7 Budapest
Freechoice: Make the most of Budapest with a guided tour, or relax and unwind at the local Thermal Baths and Spa. Alternatively, take a hike to Buda Hill or experience the labyrinths of the Hospital in the Rock. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 8 Vienna
As you cruise the mighty Danube, relax in one of the lounges and viewing areas and enjoy the scenery as your Scenic Space-Ship sails towards Vienna.
Breathe in the opulence and luxury of Palais Liechtenstein. Then be enthralled by an enchanting private classical evening concert featuring the timeless music of Strauss and Mozart. With a special dedication to Beethoven as we celebrate the 250th anniversary of his birth. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 9 Vienna
Freechoice: Take a tour of Bratislava or Schönbrunn Palace. Alternatively, learn about Viennese coffee culture with a local expert, or explore Vienna on a cycling tour. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 10 Dürnstein > Melk
Freechoice: Embark on a guided bike ride along the river from Dürnstein to Melk, or be guided through Melk’s magnificent 18th century Benedictine Abbey. Alternatively, visit the fairytale castle Burg Aggstein and learn about its impressive history while enjoying the views over the Danube. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 11 Passau > Salzburg
Let the ‘Best of The Sound of Music and Salzburg Show’ transport you to another time and place. This exclusive performance is based on the timeless movie of the same name. Day 12 Regensburg
Freechoice: Enjoy a walking tour of the city or board a local ferry and sail the Danube Gorge to Weltenburg Abbey. Or you could cycle to the Walhalla monument, or take an active walking tour to Thurn und Taxis Palace. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 13 Nuremberg
Freechoice: Explore the city on foot or visit moving WWII sites, or stay on board for a beer tasting. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 14 Bamberg
Immerse yourself in the World Heritage-listed Old Town of Bamberg and walk the same cobbled streets as medieval traders once did. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 15 Würzburg
Freechoice: Visit the Bishop’s Residenz Palace and sample some exquisite local wine. Alternatively, explore the famous Romantic Road, an important trade route during the Middle Ages, then take in the beautiful walled town of Rothenburg, a medieval gem overlooking the Tauber River. Day 16 Miltenberg
Today is your opportunity to meet the locals of this quaint German town.
Freechoice: Visit a local monastery for a tour and insight into regional beer production or meet a winemaker and join him for a taste of his fine wines. Alternatively, join a Baron and Baroness and learn what it is like to be an aristocrat in the modern day, or opt to visit a local farming family and taste some of their home made produce, or you can enjoy a visit to a local producer for a Schnapps tasting. Day 17 Rüdesheim > Rhine Gorge > Marksburg Castle
Immerse yourself in charming Rüdesheim and board the Winzerexpress mini-train for a guided visit of Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum. Then, enjoy a cable car ride to the Niederwald Monument.
Delight in the ambience at Marksburg Castle and enjoy a magnificent medieval feast. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 18 Cologne
Freechoice: Take a stroll through Cologne and get up close to the twin towers of the famous cathedral or learn of the city’s strong Jewish history.
